Skateboarding question?

I just bought a Plan B skateboard for $115 (included tax). There was another premade VAL SURF (the name of the store) skateboard for $70. The barings and wheels seem to be the same but the board was the difference. Are the name brand deckboards like Plan B better quality then default Skateboard Store brand deckboard like? Are there really a difference besides the paint on the bottom?
