I bought a ring. How do I know if its stolen?I want to get it appraised.Is rings identifiable?Or Trackable?

I bought a mans ring for a great price .From a person needing some money.No paper work tho-.Just the ring.I want to get it appraised.So I can sell it. I need to know if rings are identifiable?Or Trackable?Because,I don't want to take this ring in and find that it's stolen!
